Requirements There are many requirements needed to be eligible to get into the Olympics. A few of them are listed below. 1.) Age Qualification The first step in entering the Olympics is to be age qualified. The age requirement for the Olympics is 16 years old. The age is set at that for safety reasons and also so that the Olympians are just at their prime, so they are fast and strong enough. 2.)Fitness Qualification Each athlete needs to compete in there country's fitness test. The top winners will be eligible to compete for their countries in that particular sport. For some sports, like track and swimming, you need top get a certain amount of points or time to be eligible. 3.) Drug Test It is illegal for any Olympic athletes to be taking any drugs to enhance their Olympic abilities or just to take them from addiction. To check that no athletes are taking drugs, all athletes must take and pass the drug test. Ceremonies The Olympic Ceremonies are held at two specific points: at the lighting of the Olympic Torch and when the Olympic Torch burns out. The Olympic Torch is the Olympic symbol, and the ceremonies have revolved around the torch ever since the first Olympics over 3,000 years ago. Back then, in the Ancient Olympics, there was a huge celebration of food, introducing of the athletes, a worship to the Gods, and the lighting of the torch. Now, though, much has changed. The Olympics are no longer held to worship the Gods, as the Gods aren't beleived in anymore. The athletes of each country are introduced, though, and is also followed by the lighting of a torch. Ending Ceremonies have also proved just as important as the opening ceremonies. In the Ancient Olympics, there was a final feast, another worship to the Gods, and a long awards ceremony. Each winner would receive an olive reath cr0wn. Now, though, Olympians get medals instead of reaths, and get them after the competing event. In Modern Olympics, music is played from the country where the Olympics were held and the audience waits and watch as the torch goes out.
